Bleecker Street Urban Terrain Setup Guide

A complete walkthrough of our 28mm urban terrain set — what's in the box, how to build a city encounter, and tips for painting and storage.
What's in the Bleecker Street Set
The Bleecker Street Urban Terrain bundle includes 5 modular buildings and 19 scatter pieces, scaled for 28mm miniatures (D&D, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Marvel Crisis Protocol, and any modern or urban-fantasy game).
- 5 multi-story buildings with removable floors for interior gameplay
- 19 scatter pieces: street furniture, alley dumpsters, shipping containers, walls, barricades
- Designed to interlock and rearrange — so the same set gives you a different city block every session
Building Your First City Block
For a typical 4-by-4 foot table, lay out your buildings first:
- Anchor the corners: Place 2 of the larger buildings at opposite corners. This creates natural sight-lines and choke points.
- Center for cover: Use a smaller building or two-story structure in the middle to give cover without blocking the whole table.
- Streets and alleys: Leave 4–6 inches between buildings for roads (vehicles, mounted figures). Leave 1–2 inches for alleys (movement chokepoints).
- Drop scatter last: Dumpsters in alleys, barricades blocking streets, containers stacked for cover. Scatter is where the personality of your city comes in.
Painting Tips
Our grey PLA primes excellently — most painters jump straight to the base coat without additional primer. Suggestions for fast tabletop-ready paint jobs:
- Bricks: Drybrush a brick red base, then a lighter pink/tan highlight. Wash with brown for grit.
- Concrete: Light grey base, white drybrush on raised edges, black wash in cracks.
- Metal trim: Steel or gunmetal base, brown wash for weathering.
- Windows: Glossy dark teal or black gives a "lit at night" look without needing LEDs.
The whole set can be tabletop-ready in 3–4 hours of painting if you keep it simple.
Scale Compatibility
Bleecker Street is designed for 28mm scale — the standard for D&D 5E, Pathfinder, Marvel Crisis Protocol, and most modern or urban skirmish games. It also works for 32mm heroic scale (Warhammer 40K characters look a bit oversized but it's playable).
Storage
Because everything is modular and stacks flat, you can store the whole Bleecker Street set in a single bin (we recommend ~14”×10”×8”). Wrap painted pieces in tissue to avoid paint rubbing during transport.
Add-Ons We Recommend
Pair Bleecker Street with:
- Our 28mm/40mm Urban & Heroic Terrain collection for more scatter and additional buildings
- Tabletop miniatures to populate your streets
